Our Client's Needs

The client contacted The Hoots Group home performance division in regards to the lack of energy efficient systems in the home and the owner’s high monthly utility bills. Since The Hoots Group offers renovation services as well as home performance, it was an easy decision for the home owner to include the basement remodel into the project.

Our Solutions

The Hoots Group implemented plans not only to update the homes operating systems, but to include a basement renovation. Sustainable materials were used to make the home more comfortable for the homeowners. The HVAC was upgraded and basement water proofed as well. The renovated basement included a new kitchenette using sustainable design techniques, such as durable time and nontoxic, low-VOC stains and paints. This project was reviewed by green organizations such as the USGBC and has been incorporated as a case study showing how to properly renovate a basement.
