Green Kitchen
What our client needed
The client wanted a kitchen renovation/update because of the age of home and the lack of storage space. In addition to sustainable design features, the client wanted to address environmental needs by utilizing green friendly materials and health concerns by building products with a low VOC.
Our solution
Through our design process, we designed plans, not only to update and renovate the kitchen project, but to utilize storage space options as well. Since our client was environmentally conscious and had multiple chemical sensitivities, we provided a new, renovated green kitchen using sustainable design techniques, such as nontoxic flooring, commercial grade kitchen countertops, FSC certified wood on the cabinets, and nontoxic, low-VOC stains and paints. The homeowners were able to live in the house as we remodeled because we took special care in keeping dust down, and we used low- or no VOC finished. We also eliminated hazardous air pollutants that are typical of stand construction. This particular case study was used in the Atlanta Home and Lifestyles green issue demonstrating the elements of a green kitchen.

- Air-sealed ductwork and attic floor to prevent energy loss
