Green Living Area
What the client needed
The client was initially interested in updating and renovating the kitchen in their fifty-year-old home. After discussing plans with The Hoots Group, energy efficiency, comfort, and health issues were addressed as well. At that point, The Home Performance division stepped in to devise a game plan on solving the existing problems and concerns that extended beyond the kitchen.
Our solution
The kitchen was renovated and configured to update and maximize space using green friendly materials to support the clients desire to support the use of environmentally sustainable products. The Home Performance division of The Hoots Group created energy efficient solutions by sealing ducts, replacing insulation and encapsulating the basement. The homeowner has seen a reduction in the utility cost, and their living space is significantly more comfortable.
Green Features:
- Spray Foam Insulation in crawlspace, roofline, and in all walls that were exposed as a result of the kitchen and den renovation.
- Low VOC paint and floor finishes — this allowed the homeowner to live in the house and not be affected by indoor air pollutants.
- Crawlspace encapsulation — the thermal and vapor barrier stops harmful gases and vapors from entering the breathable spaces in the house.
